ভ্রান্তি নিরসন(হার্ডকভার) বুক রিভিউ
Lama Alobaikan _ama_l_baikan — Quick and often suspenseful read that has me scared half to death over the possibility of a genetically engineered super-smallpox being released in the world. Some countries (if you believe what is written here) have such a thing; Russia one of them. The book follows the Anthrax scare, too. It also describes the super-human effort taken to eradicate smallpox from the world. Excellent reading.
Jair Villadiego alexandersaul — Whew, what a book! The details are amazing, I think I learned a lot about life in the middle ages. I could see the passion and effort going into making this book. Totally well worth the read.
Carla Vieira carla6vieira — Not quite as wonderful as I remembered from my days as a comic reader. Disappointed, to be honest.
Roberto Roberto robertogiannini — Merlin, King Arthur... Basis of the Disney film "Sword and the Stone."
Tina Mayashvili tina_mayas6d33 — One of my favorites in this series. Just have to love how Mercy refuses to give up her sense of herself, even for a desperately wanted mate. The compromises they make to meet in the middle for their bonding are great. Definitely a favorite.
Lukas Kuhn lukaskuhn — *MINOR SPOILERS* THE STORY: The plot of The Throne of Fire is quite simple: Carter and Sadie Kane have to awaken the god Ra before Apophis (a giant snake) rises from the Duat. To do this they need to collect and learn how to recite the three sections of the Book of Ra. BAM! That’s the plot. THE GREAT: Riordan really excels in this book in terms of character development. Sadie Kane is a lot more of a flushed out character and so is Carter. This book really belongs to Sadie, though, as most of the actions are somehow perpetrated by her to begin with. Another great aspect of this book is the pacing. This book is a real page turner and sometimes you find yourself reading for hours at a time thinking it’s only been minutes. Real fast. THE GOOD: Egyptian mythology is not like Greek mythology. I found Egyptian mythology to be a tad more convoluted than Greek, although I think Riordan explains most of it pretty well. There were some parts, however, that I found myself reading repeatedly trying to figure it out. The characters introduced in this book are really quite interesting! I loved Walt and really felt for him when the twist in his character was revealed. Also Zia, whose story is very fun to read, really shines when she comes on the scene. Now, in this book, Bast goes back into the Duat and she gets her friend Bes to help Carter and Sadie. I have to admit, I was a bit worried when I read this. First of all, he’s in a speedo throughout most of it. Second of all, he’s in a speedo. However, I soon came to enjoy reading Bes and loved loved loved the cliff hanger involving him at the end of the book. THE BAD: Riordan does have a few flaws in an almost perfect book. One of those flaws, I feel, is the constant move from setting to setting. It’s almost like they travel the world in a day and never really stay in the same place for more than a few pages. This is a minor flaw and really shouldn’t bother readers too much. THE UGLY: I know Riordan promised us to bring two new books out every year, but they just seem rushed to the press. It’s really a double-edged sword because I like the fact that we get two books instead of one, but I found a few typos in the books (sometimes even whole words missing). This is very rare, but common enough for me to bring up. However, while I’m complaining, I really hope he doesn’t go back to writing one book a year because that would literally kill me. TO SUM UP: It was way better than The Red Pyramid (and that’s a feat because I also loved that book) and it is quite a worthy addition to the Riordan collection. I really can’t wait for the next book to come out and to finally figure out how the whole series wraps up. GREAT BOOK!
Connor White _onnor_hite — I liked this book a lot. It is a very quiet book, and I would describe the movement as glacier-like. I happened to enjoy that.
Hadass Bar _adass — It's ok but nothing I am pressed about staying up to read all night. Again I am missing the emotional connection with the characters. The author tried and used words that should have done it but it was a miss for me. One part had it but only for a few lines. I know what is missing for me now. Harper is acting like a punk instead of a strong alpha male. And the author did not take the time to give you any background or back story so that you are not lost if this is the first time you have read a book from this series. Unfortunately that is the case for me because this is the first book I read by this author and I now know I didn't start with the first book. Later on at page 293 I just can't take anymore of this mess of a book. The author for the most part talked about a SKUNK from page 244-274 what in the world. I didn't know you could write that much about a skunk. I can't do no more of this book.
Milagros Ann maann_alim7cc5 — Very good fast read, love her Monk characters, even the fringe ones in this novel.
Jonathan Lau jonathan_lau — What is there to say? This book is genius, Holden Caulfield a precocious generation X-er, with stunning dialogue and a simple story that belies complex layers in a phenomenal character study.
Herman Damar herman_damar — I must confess....I did recommend this book to some of my students' parents during parent/teacher conferences.
Shane Sweeney sweeneywib2a2 — The entire Mother West Wind series is excellent. It a series from my childhood that tells the stories of the forest creatures with dignity and respect. Where else can a person meet and chat with Grandfather Frog!
Dalal Aljenai dalalaljassim — I was arguing with my mother-in-law, an English teacher, the superiority of JANE EYRE over WUTHERING HEIGHTS on a recent trip to England. In all fairness, I decided to go back and re-read Wuthering Heights, as it had been many years since I read it. My youthful take on it was, indeed, correct. Sorry, Deb, but WH fails to satisfy...the main reason being that Bronte peoples her tale with entirely unlikable characters. I found it impossible to sympathize with any of the characters, except perhaps, Heathcliff, who goes on to earn the reader's due scorn by the end of the narrative. The second reason this novel disappoints is the terrible choice of narrator...the housekeeper's voice really detracts and it's just not plausible that she could be so omniscient as she is portrayed. The one highlight of this novel is the all-consuming love of Heathcliff for Catherine, but it is so self-absorbed and over-weaning that even I, lover of tragic passions, find myself a bit sickened and annoyed by the end.
